Trump Nominates William Barr for Attorney General
President Trump has nominated William Barr for Attorney General. William Barr formerly served under George H.W. Bush as Attorney General from 1991-1993, and he most recently comes from the Washington DC office of national law firm Kirkland & Ellis.
William Barr has not widely expressed a public opinion on cannabis issues since the early 90s, and therefore, little is known about how he will ultimately approach the cannabis industry, if his nomination is confirmed. However, the overriding sentiment from our membership is that he does not bring the type of historical animus or agenda that we saw from his predecessor, Jeff Sessions, and that there is much to learn about William Barr’s views on our industry during his confirmation hearings.
